Sydney Selvon learned hypnosis over three decades ago and has, since then, extensively researched the hypnotic state of the mind before deciding to devote himself to hypnotherapy.
He holds a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy (UK) and is a Certified Hypnotist of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) of the famous Dr Kappas School (USA).
Sydney is a member of three professional associations, the British Institue of Hypnotherapy, the Association of Ethical and Professional Hypnotherapists (AEPH), and the Professional Hypnotherapy Practiotioners Association (PHPA).
He is also a writer and editor who is fluent in English and French and has held senior editorial positions in publications in Canada. He now dedicates most of his time to the passion of his life, Hypnotherapy, enjoying the results of his work accomplished with people in the many countries he has visited, especially those of the Far East, including China.
Just prior to opening his consultation room in Morpeth, Northumberland, in the UK on March 1, 2010, he went to France where he was asked to attend to a difficult case of a young 16-year old boy who felt "observed" and "persecuted", even occasionally feeling taps on his shoulder by an unseen "entity".
He used one of his favourite therapeutic techniques to have the boy fearlessly confront the entity he believed was prompting him "to do bad things."
The boy has now been saved from dangerous states of mind into which he was driven that prompted him to envisage harming himself or others, including a spell during which he stopped talking altogether, even to his mother.
Sydney always says that our unconscious mind is the source of an impressive proportion of our mental and physical disorders. Through hypnosis, he brings up that "dark side" of the mind that, otherwise, cannot be explored and freed of various causes of illness, mental and physical.
